1. Introduction

 

The PSU-82C and PSU-82SP are part of WTI's family of LASERNET Printer Sharing Units. LASERNET Printer Sharing Units are dedicated to the task of automated printer/plotter sharing. LASERNET products save time and money by helping you use your printer/plotter resources more effectively.

The PSU-82C connects up to eight concurrent serial device inputs such as PCs used for desktop publishing, or word processors, to a parallel and/or serial printer. The PSU-82SP connects four concurrent parallel and four concurrent serial device inputs to a parallel and/or serial printer.

Both PSUs contain 256KB to 2MB of dynamically allocated memory, which enables simultaneous device input to be buffered on a first-in, first-out basis. This buffer also enables the connected parallel and serial printers to operate simultaneously.

You can direct print jobs between the printers by using the EASY SWITCH program on the LASERNET Utilities disk or by issuing the command codes discussed in Section 6.1 in this User’s Guide.

WTI's PSA-2 adapter is available to convert your PC's parallel output to serial. This greatly extends the distance between the PC and the LASERNET without using the PC's serial port
