3.7. Final Check

1                     Flip the power switch back ON.

2                     Connected serial inputs: If your COM port is not initialized for your printer, use the DOS MODE command to do so. A common command for COM1 at 9600 baud, no parity, eight data bits and one stop bit would be:

MODE COM1:9600,N,8,1 [Enter]

3. Connected serial inputs: If your computer is set to send printer data out the parallel port, then you must redirect it out the serial port. Type:

MODE LPT1:=COM1 [Enter]

Note:

Your MODE configuration may vary. Check the SetUp switch settings and consult your DOS manual to match configurations. To avoid typing MODE commands each time you power up the computer, place them in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

1                     Bring some text up on your computer screen and send it to the printer (press [Shift] and [Print Scrn]). During data transmission, the INPUT indicator should light for that input port.

2                     Press the PSU's TOF button or take the printer offline and press the FORM FEED button on the printer to get the printout.

3                     If nothing printed, check all cable connections. Repeat the Final Check.

On serial connections, make certain that all baud rate, parity, and other configurations match.

If you still have problems, please refer to the Troubleshooting section in Appendix A.

Once your printout is satisfactory, and you only require the parameters configured by the SetUp switches, then you can begin operation without additional instructions. If you wish to use the PSU's other features, continue reading.
