7.2.3.1. Logical AND-OR Conditions

 

Logical AND/OR conditions can be created in the Alarm Clue definition by including the AND operator "*" (asterisk), or the OR operator "+" (plus sign).

Logical AND Conditions

The AND operator (*) links parameters in a manner where two or more conditions must all be true, in order for the call to be counted as an Alarm Record.

Example Assume the variable "A" represents the field for the number dialed, and "B" represents the field for the extension number. To define an Alarm Clue named "ALL" that generates an alarm if 99 calls are placed to 555-1111 from extension 013, type the following:

^B81,ALL\99\A=5551111*B=013 [Enter]

The Alarm Clue "ALL" would only count calls that are placed to 555-1111 AND placed from extension 013. Calls to 555-1111 from extension 086 would not be counted, and calls to 555-2222 from extension 013 would also not be counted.

Logical OR Conditions

The OR operator (+) links parameters in a manner where any of two or more conditions must be true in order for the call to be counted as an Alarm Record.

Example Assume the variable "A" represents the field for the number dialed, and "B" represents the field for the extension number. To define an Alarm Clue named "ANY" that generates an alarm if 99 calls are placed to 555-1111 OR placed from extension 013, type the following:

^B81,ANY\99\A=5551111+B=013 [Enter]

The Alarm Clue "ANY" would count all calls that are placed to 555-1111 OR placed from extension 013. Calls to 555-1111 from extension 086 would be counted, and calls to 555-2222 from extension 013 would also be counted.

For example, long distance calls can be easily recognized because they always begin with the number one. Call characteristics are expressed in the form of an equation, which will include the following elements:

 

•          One or more of the variables from the Alarm Filter Format or one or more Real-Time variables (Section 7.2.4).

•          One or more of the operators discussed in Section 7.2.3.

•          One or more alphanumeric values, which describe the characteristics the clue will monitor.
